Sit With the Strong Women — A Sassy Life Lesson

I’ve been thinking lately about how people choose their seats in life. Not the literal seats — though yes, some folks will absolutely elbow you out of the way for the booth at Cracker Barrel — but the figurative ones. The emotional seating chart. The “who do I sit next to so I feel like somebody?” seating chart.
And baby… some people treat life like a middle‑school cafeteria.
They don’t sit with the strong women. They don’t sit with the women who are leveling up. They don’t sit with the women who are building, healing, growing, glowing, and minding their business.
Nope.
They sprint — full Olympic speed — to sit next to the person they think makes them look tall.
Not because they are tall. But because they love the illusion of towering over somebody.
It’s giving emotional platform shoes.
Why Some Folks Avoid Strong Women
Let’s call it what it is: Some people don’t want inspiration. They want comfort.
And comfort often comes from sitting next to someone they’ve decided is “beneath” them.
Because sitting next to a strong woman means you might have to:
face your own excuses
admit you’ve been coasting
stop blaming the universe for your choices
grow up a little
actually do something with your life
And whew… some folks would rather eat a dry saltine cracker in silence than face all that.
Strong women are mirrors. And mirrors make some people flinch.
Strong Women Don’t Intimidate Us — They Activate Us
But here’s the thing: Women who are secure in themselves don’t fear someone else’s shine. They study it. They admire it. They learn from it.
A strong woman walks into the room and suddenly the air gets a little crisper. The energy shifts. The bar rises.
Weak people feel threatened by that. Strong women feel invited.
Because when you’re confident in who you are, someone else’s glow doesn’t dim you — it lights the path.
Strong women sit next to other strong women because:
excellence is contagious
ambition rubs off
confidence is educational
success leaves clues
iron sharpens iron
We don’t shrink. We expand.
The Real Reason People Choose “Beneath” Instead of “Beyond”
Some people aren’t avoiding strong women — they’re avoiding the version of themselves they’d have to become if they stayed close.
Growth is uncomfortable. Self-awareness is inconvenient. And accountability? Baby, that’s a whole horror movie for some folks.
So they sit with the people who make them feel tall instead of the people who make them feel better.
And Here’s My Truth
I don’t want to sit next to someone who needs me to be small so they can feel big. I want to sit next to the women who challenge me, inspire me, and make me raise my own bar.
I want to sit with the women who are doing better — not because I’m intimidated, but because I’m invested in becoming the best version of myself.
And that’s why I have so many strong female friends — because I want to learn from them and lift each other up.
